Camper Registration for KIDS Camp 2026 is now open!!!
Since this camp is for foster children, it is important to protect their location and identities for legal reasons. Due to a possibility of a biological parent showing up to camp and trying to take their children back without following the judge’s orders, we cannot disclose the camp location in order to protect the children’s safety. But, we can guarantee that it is located in the Lowcountry!
The cost per child is approximately $1,000. This covers the cost of the camp, counselor and staff support, transportation, insurance, Everybody's Birthday Party, and a myriad of incidentals. If you'd like to sponsor a child, we invite you to donate.
Yes. Children going to Vacation Bible School two hours per day don't have a big readjustment to make when they go home at night. For many foster children, this kind of readjustment can be difficult. By having an overnight residential camp, the kids can relax and enjoy being loved on for an entire week without having to adjust between camp and home all week.
Counselors get to be a big brother or a big sister for the week. The schedule is completely planned in advance, so a counselor's main job is to love on their two kids and help them have the time of their lives. See the "Camp Counselor" role in our Volunteer Opportunities page for a more detailed description.
Yes. All of our counselors and full-time staff undergo a background check and receive 12 hours of training the first year and 8 hours of training every year after that. The training is geared specifically toward working with foster children. We use Trust-Based Relational Intervention (TBRI) principles, developed by Karen Purvis at Texas Christian University.
Apply to volunteer here. We have full-time on-site positions and part-time or one-day positions open. If you cannot volunteer at camp, you can pray for a specific list of needs, or for camp in general. If you would like to contribute financially, we accept donations made online or through check made out to Calvary Chapel Summerville, with "Royal Family KIDS Camp" or "RFKC" specified in the memo line.
Yes. Calvary Chapel Summerville is our host church. You'll receive a tax statement at the end of the year.
No. This is a camp for the community, hosted by a church. We share the love of Christ with our campers, but we have to follow strict guidelines to minimize concerns. See our About Us page to learn more about this.
We always welcome potential volunteers! Contact the director at (803) 526-4761 or email us at rfkcsvl@gmail.com to discuss options for camp visitation.
For the safety of both camper and volunteer, we adhere to a strict two-deep policy at camp, meaning no child is ever alone with any one volunteer. Any contact after camp could jeopardize that. We don't make contact in-person, by phone, or through social media. Every now and then we will cross paths with a camper around town which is always a happy occasion. If you're a foster parent and would like to contact your child's counselor or any staff member after camp, call or send an email and we'll make it happen.
